Course Description
Fundraising is an essential activity for any music and cultural organisation and/or freelance. The boundary between art and commerce is linked with creativity and innovation, and this master class explains fundraising and considers how it contributes to an institution’s success. Nowadays, raising funds is an essential skill for anyone working in the arts, music and cultural sectors – both in major contexts and smaller not-profits. In such competitive environment, successful fundraising is the difference between stagnation or innovative growth. This master class teaches students how to develop strategic and practical skills to raise economical contributions from a variety of sources and build resilience in music and culture markets.

Michela Gaffo begins her career as an advertising and marketing expert, and in 2003 she chose to switch to the non-profit sector to work as a full-time fundraiser. She gained extensive experience in medium and large organisations, from social and health care to international cooperation, in which she held various roles up to the direction of all fundraising activities. She is currently working as Head of Marketing for Italia Non Profit, a data company specialising in the philanthropic sector.
